Food, Drinks and Electricity

Food and Drinks

Bhutanese food is known for its rich and chilli hot dishes, although hotels also offer a choice of Bhutanese, Chinese, Indian, Japanese and some European dishes. In fact, with advance notice, most hotels can cater for specific preferences. Bhutan produces its own alcoholic drinks which are widely available. Imported drinks are also available at hotels, but are considerably more expensive. Soft drinks and bottled water are available throughout the country.

Electricity

Electricity is available in all towns throughout Bhutan, and is beginning to be taken to the more remote villages. The supply is 220/240 volts, which means that a converter may be required for any electrical equipment a traveller may bring with them. Internet facilities are also available in most towns.
